GOP Convention Debate

Convention vs. Primary

West Virginia state code provides for political parties to determine how delegates to their national conventions will be selected.  Republicans will make a decision this Saturday at a State Executive Committee meeting.

Yes, I am for a primary.

There are a few simple but important reasons why.

First, Republican voters should have the right to select delegates that will support their presidential preference.

Second, Independent voters are growing in our State.  Republicans have welcomed them for years.  Why not let them express their presidential preference in a primary?

Third, GOP party “insiders” by “shutting out” Republican and Independent voters could cause them to “stay home” in October adversely impacting the Maloney for Governor campaign.  No one wants that.
